Description:

The Medallion Portrait series is among the most valuable subjects on historical Staffordshire. These were produced in commemoration of the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825. In addition to being decorated with medallions,  they included vignettes of the Erie Canal Views - Albany, Rochester and Little Falls. Here is Stevenson's version of the View of the Aqueduct Bridge at Little Falls.  See the Enoch Wood versions as well.  Here, the medallions are smaller in size.
