Description:

The view on this platter of this noteworthy building was also produced by Ridgway, Wood, Jackson, Rogers and Stevenson, as well as Stubbs here.  The border in this series of American views by Stubbs is called "Spread Eagle Border." This building is surrounded by houses of famous men and itself was designed by the noted architect, Bulfinch in 1795.  It was built on land once owned by John Hancock (signer of the Declaration of Independence).
