Pattern Category: Places

Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares

Dimensions:

  • Height: 8 inches

Description:

This is one side view of the pitcher whose central image is the Dutch Church.  Stevenson used the Erie Canal Vignettes on many of his pieces.  This pitcher has two such views, similar to those used by Enoch Wood.  The view on the opposite side of the pitcher is Entrance of the Canal into the Hudson at Albany (see that listing in this exhibit).  Most of Stevenson's Medallion Portrait series also had inserted views of the Erie Canal.  There are three such views, Albany, Rochester and Little Falls.
