Potters

America in Blue

To capture the expanding American market in the years following the War of 1812, British potters introduced a new range of blue printed designs.  Royal blue was the most popular color, but a new intense darker blue was also available in a wide variety of patterns including a relatively small range of designs depicting American scenes and themes; these enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the 1820s, going out of style by the mid-1830s.
