Description:

Shown here on a shallow bowl,  the United States Hotel, in Philadelphia, stood opposite the United States Bank on Chestnut Street.  It was opened in 1826 and operated for about 30 years, then was purchased by the Bank of Philadelphia.  There are three American views previously attributed to Tams as the maker, but recent discoveries indicate that the various Tams partnerships were IMPORTERS.
