Series: Medallion Portrait

Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares

Dimensions:

  • Diameter: 5.75 inches

Description:

This plate with two portrait medallions (and the one without medallions) has caused confusion amongst collectors because of the normally indistinct title. The place name has been variously interpreted as "covetham," or coventham," thus making it difficult to identify. However the discovery of an 1818 print of an old engraving, makes it quite clear that the real name is Covet Hall.  As is true of many of the Medallion Portrait pieces, this is an English view.
