Description:

Small sauce or gravy tureen,  approximately 7 inches long.  The base shows the Paterson or Passaic Falls, on the Passaic River, whose source is a small lake in Orange County, New York, about 20 miles from New Bay into which it flows. The under tray to this set is properly Pass in the Catskill Mountains  (See in this exhibit).

There is a similar view with a different perspective listed, which is sometimes referred to as Unidentified Falls.  But we call it Passaic Falls, State of New Jersey #2.  The ladle sometimes depicts a simple shell or a shell and rowboat, and the lid sometimes shows part of the view of Hope Mill, Catskill, State of New York, which can also be seen in this exhibit.
