Mitchell and Freeman's China and Glass Warehouse Chatham Street Boston

Pattern Category: Places

Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares

Dimensions:

  • Diameter: 10 inches

Description:

This plate shows a warehouse housing the business by the name printed on the plate's mark.  Wares from the Adams pottery were distributed by this establishment.  Chatham Street was not so named until 1827, and Mitchell was no longer with the firm by 1832, which helps pinpoint the date the view was produced.

This is Adams' only dark blue American Scene other than the piece known as Seal of the United States.
