Considered Rare Description: This 9.5 inch square bowl is housed in the Larsen Collection at the Smithsonian Museum and may well be unique. It bears four portraits on the interior, Washington, Jefferson, Clinton and La Fayette, one on each of the four interior sides. On two of the outside panels are vignettes of the Erie Canal, the Aqueduct Bridge at Little Falls, and the Aqueduct Bridge at Rochester. The other two outside panels have unidentified English country views. The border is Stevenson's Acorn and Oak Leaves border. |
