This plate, its only known form other than a round sauce tureen tray, shows the Philadelphia Masonic Hall on Chestnut Street. It was built in 1810, burned down in 1818 and was then rebuilt. The hall was a popular venue for art exhibitions, for fairs and balls. It was taken down in 1855-56. Stevenson produced a very similar view of the same name (see in this exhibit).
