This platter with four portraits  is one of 13 views in this series representing American personages, Washington, La Fayette, Jefferson and Clinton. Other items have just one or two medallions and a few, just one (See Remains of Covet Hall, Essex. in this exhibit).  This platter also shows an inset image of the Erie Canal (note that it is the same view as on the Enoch Wood piece), which shows View of the Aqueduct Bridge at Rochester.  Tunbridge (properly Tonbridge) Castle, is in the town of Rochester in Surrey.  Despite the title name, Surrey is the correct spelling of the English county.

Since the center view is English, we only show this piece due to the presence of the four medallions and the Erie Canal insert.

There is also an American view with four medallions, in two forms.  Please see the extra images under the listing Niagara in this section.  They show the scene Niagara but in the top border there are 4 medallion portraits, one set large, and the other small medallions.
