Boston HarborPattern Category: Places Object Type: Wares for Coffee and Tea Dimensions:
Description: Shown here on a cup plate, as part of a teaset, is a reputed distant view of Boston Harbor with the center subject a large spread winged American Eagle perched on a rock above an American Shield. Although there is no proof that this is indeed the view it is purported to be, it is a beautiful view which varies from piece to piece as regards the buildings pictured and the number of ships in the harbor. This cup plate of this view is the frontispiece in David and Linda Arman's c.2000 booklet on American cup plates. It is considered rare, and all the pieces in the pattern are scarce. |
