Boston Exchange Coffee HousePattern Category: Places Object Type: Wares for Coffee and Tea Considered Rare Description: This teapot shows the Boston Exchange Coffee House, a hotel, coffee house and place of business built in 1809 on Congress Street. At seven stories high it was the largest building in Boston but the design by architect Asher Benjamin was considered clumsy and inconvenient. It burnt to the ground in 1818 and was never rebuilt. This was an exciting recent discovery of American Historical dark blue Staffordshire. |
