Description:

Sugar bowl, by an unknown maker.   It is one of six Baltimore views known with this border.  Calverton, the country seat of Dennis Smith,  was bought and enlarged and served as the County and City Alms House from 1820-1866.  In 1872 it became the Hebrew Orphan Asylum; the building was destroyed by fire in 1874 and the Victorian edifice now on the site constructed in 1876. See the unique version of this sugar bowl under shapes.  It shows a sugar bowl with rare eagle's head handles.
