Description:

This wash bowl illustrates a version of the Maryland state arms only in use from 1794 to 1817. In 1854 the state reverted to the seal of Lord Baltimore, which had originally been its arms since 1648.  This version depicts Justice, with a horn of plenty representing the fertility of Maryland, and the ship, her commerce.
