Pattern Category: Heraldic and Commemorative Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares Dimensions: Description:
This pitcher was probably made as a souvenir to commemorate La Fayette's visit to the US in 1824-25. Based on a portrait by Geille and printed by The Elder Chardon, this is referred to as the Yorktown Portrait and shows La Fayette in uniform. While the uniform is the same in various views, the face was changed by every potter.
