Washington and La Fayette

Pattern Category: Heraldic and Commemorative

Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares

  • Diameter: 10.125 inches

Considered Rare

The is a twin portrait plate.  The portrait of Washington says "Washington" above and "July 4 1776" below.  The portrait of La Fayette says "Welcome La Fayette" above and "The Nation's Guest, Aug 6, 1824" below.  That date does not coincide with the date on the Landing of La Fayette pieces, which was on August 16 of that year.  It may be that is when he departed for his trip.  The border is called Scrolls, Flowers and Urns.
