This covered vegetable dish is part of Stevenson's Vine Border Series of American views. The cover is printed in the same pattern as the dish.  It is virtually the same view as used by Ridgway and titled Exchange, Charleston.  The building was erected in 1767-72 and is still standing. The view represents its appearance before modifications were made in 1837 when it was in the hands of the US Government as a Post Office.  In the Shapes section, see the only known cup plate version of this view.
